Brereton Manor has been a family owned and operated Personal Care Home for over 45 years. Founded by Joan and Paul Berdiner, Brereton Manor continues the Berdiner's Family commitment. Mrs. Berdiner is a Licensed Practical Nurse with many years of experience working in nursing homes. She was a frustrated supervising nurse at a skilled care home in the 1960's when she decided she had something more to offer seniors. Her vision was to provide a place where seniors could live in a clean, stable, and safe environment, but make it resemble a private home or apartment as much as possible. Bill Boyd, the present owner and administrator, maintains the philosophy that staying small gives elders the personal care that they deserve.
Boni Zeigler, Assistant Administrator and the next generation of the Berdiner family to join Brereton Manor believes in the philosophy that choice is an important aspect of life at the Manor. Together, Bill and Boni encourage residents to be part of the decision making process and support their elders as individuals. Brereton Manor offers a family an oriented personal care home that is steeped in Lancaster county tradition.
Brereton Manor is licensed to have 35 beds; however, there are typically only 24 residents at the home, one resident per room. With 23 people on staff, the excellent staff to resident ratio assures you'll receive personalized care that you want and deserve.
A fully licensed, 35-bed personal care facility, Brereton Manor offers a wide range of services for elder residents who require assistance with daily living, but do not need the level of care and expense of a nursing home. While residents retain independence, they benefit from services with round the clock medical attention by our nursing staff and aides. A house medical doctor and registered nurse are on call.
Daily room rates include: 24-hour assisted care for needs such as bathing and dressing, three delicious home cooked meals daily, an evening snack, room cleaning, linens, television, and laundry service. Meals may be served in the room if the resident is ill.
Medication is administered by Brereton Manor staff and special diets are provided at no additional cost. We also give reminders to be at meals on time, provide ambulation assistance to meals, monthly weight and blood pressure monitoring, assistance with incontinence protection, insulin injections, and acc-check monitoring.
Level 2 Care
Level 2 care provides a cost effective way to continue care at Brereton Manor rather than transfer the resident to a skilled care facility. Some examples of Level 2 care would be: oxygen, colostomy care or follow up care after a hospital stay. Physical or occupational care may be arranged per doctor orders.
Day Care Services
We offer day care services for up to 12 hours a day and include three hot meals, activities, and supervised medication per physician's orders.
Transition Services
We offer assistance to anyone making the transition to Brereton Manor. This may include transferring various services such as utilities, etc. or helping to decide what personal belongings to bring along or to assist in getting ready for a house sale if needed.
