SKILLED CARE CENTER
Physical or mental limitations may necessitate living in a skilled care center for either a limited or an extended period of time. To meet those needs, the Gettysburg Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Center strikes a delicate balance between a homelike environment and a skilled care center. While your needs may lead you to seek our service, our caring and professional staff will try to make you feel like family. Whether you need health care, dementia support, or rehabilitation, our primary goal is to enhance and promote independence within capabilities, while preserving your dignity and sense of privacy. Our 100 bed skilled care center is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and is Medicare and Medicaid certified. Care is provided under the direction of your attending physician. We provide skilled nursing care and full rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
Activities
A wide variety of programs focusing on social, creative and intellectual interests are available. Group activities like cooking, sports, crafts, parties, bus rides and discussion groups are enhanced with opportunities for private pastimes like reading, tending to plants, listening to music or bird watching. Therapy assistants provide exercises and walking activities to maintain mobility and function. Beautician and barber services are provided on campus.
Residents can also enjoy activities and visits with the young children from Learning Tree Child Care, the LSS child care center located right in the skilled care center building. Unique to Gettysburg Village, this intergenerational interaction has proven to be meaningful to both children and residents alike.
Meal Service
You may choose to eat in the lovely central dining room where a choice of menu selections is offered restaurant style at each meal. There are several smaller dining areas where assistance with meals is available if needed. Menus are planned by a certified dietary manager and approved by a registered dietitian. Menus are prepared with your physician's orders and your preferences in mind. Snacks are available.
Additional Services
In addition to room and board, our skilled care center daily rates include stock medical and personal hygiene supplies, as well as hair care, laundry services and Cable TV.
